Music is an important part of the funeral liturgy. It empowers the community to express feelings that words alone cannot convey. It uplifts those who mourn and strengthens the unity of the assembly in faith and love. Music should be chosen with great care and should help to create, in those in attendance, a spirit of hope in Christ’s victory over death. (Order of Christian Funerals.) The following will assist you in choosing music that is meaningful for you, and at the same time, respects the role of music in the funeral liturgy.
